In 1988, Hitomi fell in love with Australia and decided to move to Sydney permanently with her daughter, Mio. Upon her arrival, Hitomi struggled to find quality Japanese fabrics and haberdasheries, which motivated her to bring these products to Australia so that people could appreciate their quality and beauty.

Hitomi has taught quilting, contributed to various magazine projects, and created her own fabric, bag patterns, and sashiko panels. She was also the first person to introduce CLOVER, one of the world's leading haberdashery companies, to the Australian market.
